Outgrow Pain™
As young children learn to walk, they outgrow crawling. You will learn to use FlexAware to relieve "outgrow" back pain, asthma, arthritis, knee and hip joint pain, and other problem conditions.

Breathing for Life™
You will learn how to breathe more freely, easily, and effectively. FlexAware breathing increases the strength, length, resilience, and coordination of all the muscles that are involved in breathing, not just the diaphragm. That makes it uniquely beneficial for people with breathing difficulties, including asthma, COPD, and emphysema. Breathing effectively is vital for recovering from stress and improving emotional and psychological health.

Enhance Your Yoga with FlexAware*
Take your yoga to the next level. More skill. More comfort. More fun. Less strain and fewer injuries, with faster recovery from any difficulties that do occur. FlexAware is based on the innate, organic, spontaneous yoga of healthy young children.

*Great for people who do not practice yoga, too, for general fitness and enhanced skills at golf, tennis, running, swimming, dance, and more.

Better Breathing with FlexAware Somatic Education and Exercise
This eight-hour workshop, though suitable for everyone, is designed mostly for massage therapists, bodyworkers, yoga teachers, Feldenkrais® practitioners, PTs, chiropractors, and other health professionals. We are applying for approval to offer 8 CE hours from NCBTMB.

Teacher Education Programs

Children

TheFlexAware Teacher Education Program has three levels, 100 hours each, with Steven Shafarman personally teaching at least 60 hours. Class size is limited. Programs include supervised practice teaching.

Basic Program
Students get a comprehensive Teachers Manual that includes detailed descriptions of the FlexAware exercises and how to teach them, plus material on the way of thinking that makes FlexAware unique.

Graduates, after successfully completing written and practical evaluations, will be authorized to teach FlexAware classes to diverse groups.

Several factors make it possible for you to become an effective and successful teacher in just 100 hours. There are no foreign terms or other jargon to memorize. You’ll have the Teachers Manual. And the exercises do not require the precision and specificity that characterizes yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi, Qi Gong, and other systems, because FlexAware is as natural as a very young child learning to crawl and walk.

Teaching FlexAware is inherently creative and enjoyable, and can be easily combined with teaching and coaching other fitness, exercise, and sports activities. It is also a powerful adjunct to movement therapies, including massage, bodywork, PT, OT, chiropractic, and physiatry.

Our next program is planned for August and September 2010, with two four-day segments in Washington DC. People who are already movement teachers and therapists are especially invited to apply.

Admission involves a written application and interview with Steven Shafarman.
For application and details about location, cost, and so on, please contact teach@FlexAware.com or call 202.640.1373.

Continuing Program
More advanced FlexAware practices for seniors and people with limited movement abilities.
More challenging exercises for dedicated athletes, including for cardiovascular fitness and specific sports.

Students will also learn more of the science and theory of FlexAware, and how to apply it to all aspects of life, learning, and healing — for personal transformation.

Graduates will be authorized to teach specialized workshops. Steven Shafarman and FlexAware Learning Corporation will work closely with graduates to help them establish successful teaching practices.

Advanced Program

This is a mentorship, by invitation only.

Individual Sessions with Steven Shafarman

Steven Shafarman works with a few select students in Washington DC.

He also consults with people remotely using Skype.

Students typically report significant benefits starting with the first session. Each session combines FlexAware with the subtle skills Steven developed as an assistant to Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais and through more than 25 years experience as a successful Feldenkrais® Method practitioner. You will learn specific, easy, remarkably effective practices you can use to continue improving on your own, in the way you breathe, sit, and walk.
