Become A Teacher

Summer 2008
We invite you to join us in bringing the benefits of FlexAware to people everywhere. We are developing classes and workshops for yoga studios, retirement homes, and other venues, and for specific groups, including elders and children. Plus, we plan to open two more studios in the coming year.

Our teacher education program is 100 hours. That includes 80 classroom hours and 20 practical hours. There are written and practical evaluations for certification. The program is carefully designed to ensure that graduates are effective, confident teachers.

Students will receive a teacher's manual that includes detailed descriptions of the FlexAware exercises and how to teach them, with theoretical material on the way of thinking that makes FlexAware so unique and effective.
Participants can expect significant personal benefits. Graduates will have ongoing support as they establish their teaching practices.

Introductory Days: (Attend one.)
These day-long programs include basic and intermediate FlexAware classes, plus one of the two-hour workshops you will learn to teach.

Dates: Saturday, April 19. Sunday, April 27. Saturday, May 10. Saturday, May 31. Saturday, June 14.  
Times: 9:00-5:30.
Location: Washington DC studio.
Note: These days are open to people who are still deciding whether to attend the teacher program.

Intensive Program:
Immerse yourself in FlexAware exercises, principles, and scientific foundations.

Dates: Summer Program - Friday, June 27, through Monday, June 30;
          Fall Program - Friday, October 17, through Monday, October 20.
Location: Washington DC studio.

Additional Weekends:
Dates: Summer Program on August 2-3 and August 16-17;
          Fall Program on November 1-2 and December 6-7.   
Times: 9:00-5:30 each day.
Location: Washington DC studio.

Practical Hours:
Assisting in classes and supervised teaching.
Twenty hours, to be scheduled individually.

Concluding Day:  
Review, written test, and practical evaluation.

Tuition:
$1,500. ($1,200 if prepaid by January 30.)
Do not let the cost deter you. We offer work-study, scholarships, and deferred payment.
(There will be additional costs for room and board for the intensive segment.)
